4MINUTE "For Muzik" The first Mini Album

The Members:

4Minute (Korean: 포미닛) is a five-member South Korean girl group created by Cube Entertainment in 2009. The group's leader is Nam Ji-hyun, and the other members are Heo Ga-yoon, Jeon Ji-yoon, Kim Hyun-a, and Kwon So-hyun.

The girls released their first single on June 15, 2009 and made their debut stage last June 18, 2009 on Mnet M! Countdown. Their official fan club name is "4Nia" --- a combination of 4Minute and mania.

Personally, I always love when it comes to 4MINUTE especially my Favorite member Kim Hyuna. They are my favorite Korean Pop Girl Group. Because they have spunk, beauty, and talent. After hearing their Songs especially “MUZIK” I fell very in love with the group. On August 28^th, 4minute digitally released their first mini-album “For Muzik”.  The album was very successful and it quickly peaked the top five of many online music charts.  “Hot Issue”, “Muzik” and “What A Girl Wants” were separately promoted from September through December.  The album was also promoted in Japan where a repackaged version was released. After hearing “For Muzik” and “Hot Issue” on TV I have been very addicted to the songs. I played it over 30 times in a day. I ♥4MINUTE hehehehe ;-) I quickly asked My Dad to buy an album, and luckily he agreed, my Dad is very Supportive ;-) We went to Legaspi City just to buy the album and it was fun. Seeing it in the Music Stores just give me excitement and joy. Gladly I quickly bought the album worth 634.50 Php and it was worth it. After hearing the other songs here are My Opinions on the tracks:

“For Muzik” is the shortest song on the album coming in at 1:24.  Despite its short length, this introduction is one of the albums best songs.  I honestly wish they made this full length; it’s just amazing.  It really gives you a feel of what will be happening in this album.  It also in a way lets you know what member does what within the group.

“Muzik” is without a doubt the best song in this album. (Especially one of my favorites ;-) )  It’s super catchy and is paired with a really interesting instrumental.  Despite being a pop song; this actually has really awesome lyrics, they’re perfect for any music lover out there.  The chorus is infectious and will probably get stuck in your head right away.  HyunA’s rap break towards the end is top notch as always.





“Hot Issue” was 4minute’s first debut single, due to its popularity though, it was put on this album.  At first I don’t really like this song too much, to be honest. But when I listened to it when I play the album , I learned to appreciate it. The song is very catchy and has a flashy music video and dance…

“What A Girl Wants” is a totally new sound from most of the songs 4minute has released.  I’m almost positive that if you are not a fan of 4minute’s current sound and image you’d love this song.  You can clearly hear each of the girls’ voices; and I love that.  This is something I would of never expected 4minute to release.  The lack of auto-tune, rapping and blaring instrumentals is actually really nice.  I do love the typical 4minute sound but it’s nice to know they won’t have to always rely on 
it.  Ga Yoon has one killer voice.

 “Funny” sounds very similar to a popular Britney Spears song we all know and love.  Either way, I like 4minute and Britney Spears. While I feel this to be the weakest song on the album, it’s still pretty nice. The chorus and rap breaks have a different feel to them, which I really like.

“Won’t Give You” This song has a similar feeling to “What A Girl Wants” in terms of not sounding like typical 4minute.  The vocals are really nice, especially in Gayoon’s part, it’s nice to hear HyunA actually sing and not rap for once.  HyunA’ and Jiyoon ‘s rap are very 

powerful. ;-)

Closing the album is “Hot Issue (Remix)” The new instrumental gives this song a totally new feel, and I love it.  Also, the added lyrics “What it is, what it is” at 2:22 are so well placed and add something totally different to the song. Love it ;-)

To me, 4minute is one the best girl group in the Korean Pop scene.  After listening to every song these girls have released, I noticed something.  Each one of them had potential to be promoted or chart music charts.  Their overall body of work is honestly really well produced.  I say give 4minute a year or two, and they’ll blow your minds.
